The grooves on the side and bottom of the case allow you to switch your cover as a horizontal/vertical stand conveniently. When you slide the cover up alone the groove at the bottom, and fold it up to make a stand for viewing your iPad vertically. By sliding the cover into the groove on the side, you will get a horizontal viewing stand.
